OKAP to Be Administered Saturday, March 31, 2012
To better serve our residents and training programs, the 2012 OKAP exam will be a computer-based examination administered at Prometric test centers throughout the United States and Canada. The exam will no longer be administered in paper/pencil form.
Registration Instructions
The Academy has already pre-registered all residents in the United States and Canada for the 2012 OKAP exam. Your program will receive an email notification that will list the resident information the Academy submitted to Prometric. Please review the resident information thoroughly. If resident information is missing or inaccurate, those residents will not be able to make their exam appointment through Prometric. To update resident information, have the resident contact Academy member services by calling (866) 561-8558.
Next Steps for Residents
Programs should immediately post the “Notice to Residents,” which can be accessed below. This notice has important dates, information, and instructions specific to residents. It is the responsibility of each resident to schedule an exam appointment with Prometric. There are two ways that residents can select the test center and time of their choice:
- On the Prometric website at www.prometric.com/aao
- By phone at 800-481-6473, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Residents will need their name, program name, and Academy member ID number or non-member ID number to make their exam appointment. Residents can contact Academy member services at (866) 561-8558 if they need to acquire their member number. Please advise your residents that the longer they wait to make their exam appointment, the fewer choice they may have. To guarantee their preferred time and location, the Academy recommends that all residents make their exam appointment by October 31, 2011.
*The last day to make an exam appointment is March 26, 2012.
Payment Information
The cost is $280 per resident, plus $25 per special accommodation due to disability. Examination fees need to come directly from the residency programs once the program receives its invoice. Your invoice will be sent once all of your residents have made their exam appointments through Prometric. Please note that payments made by individual residents will not be accepted.
*Test scores will be withheld for non-payment.
If you have questions regarding this new process, please call the Academy directly at 415-561-8540, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT or send your inquiry to customer_service@aao.org.
