  • Evidence-based summary of aqueous shunts including
    - Ahmed
    - Baerveldt
    - Krupin
    - Molteno
  • Level I evidence that shunts have benefits (IOP control, duration of benefit) comparable with trabeculectomy
  • Clinical failure of devices is approximately 10% per year
  • Level I evidence of no advantage to using adjunctive antifibrotic agents or systemic corticosteroids
